Lee Byre - The house

You will find us on the side of a hill (Lee), half way along an old bumpy farm and mining track, with woodland and trails behind us, a river and farmland in front. It’s a peaceful and tranquil spot, with plenty of nature right outside your bedroom door and a night’s sky packed with stars!

The buildings are a collection of converted barns (Byres) and animal stalls; for 300 years Lee Byre was used as a livestock and dairy farm, before it fell into disrepair in 1970s. Lovingly restored by John Barnes over 7 years, it has retained its character and heritage.

Benefits of our remote location include our own source of fresh spring water. This spring water is filtered by the woodland behind us and supplies all the rooms with beautifully crisp and clear water. We also burn sustainable fuel in the form of wood pellets for our heating.

We’ve got three of them. Think exposed stonework and quirky oak ceiling beams of an old barn, brought up to date with a fresh modern finish.  Plenty of windows and light to enjoy views across the countryside and the original farm courtyard. Cosy beds made for sleeping in. All natural bath products. Simple luxury to ensure your stay is both relaxing and comfortable.
